I had Norton Security on my computer for years and it worked great. But then one day they came out with an upgrade. The install program popped up and told me I first needed to uninstall the old Norton software. Of course, it wouldn't uninstall. So I went to Norton/Symantec's website and found an incredibly complicated procedure for removing NAV and NIS which involved deleting files manually, editing the registry, and running an uninstall program from their website (which didn't work).
I replaced it with McAfee security software and it works great.
But Yahoo! is in bed with Symantec and puts this friggin' button on their toolbar that gives you the "opportunity" to try Norton security for free (uh-huh). I can't find a way to get rid of that button.
Sure it's just a nuisance, but this is MY computer, not Yahoo's, and > I < say what goes on it, not them. I despise companies that put crap on your computer that you don't want and didn't ask for, even little buttons.
