Security - October 2006

Probably every 2-3 hours for a couple of minutes my PC virtually stops. When my Task manager finally appears, theres about 8 processes running to do with LiveUpdate. Is there a way to cut these down to maybe Twice a day. I'm running Norton Internet security 2007.
I know I'll probably get answers saying "Get Rid"
but until it runs out, I'd like to find a solution.

If you're willing to share what happened and what steps you had to go through in order to rectify the situation, I would appreciate it. I'm working on a school article, and I need some info to fill out the details.
Even if you just know a Web site or message board where I could contact people who have had to deal with this, that would be great.
(If you could leave your first name and the city/state/country you're from too, that would be helpful, but not necessary at all!)

Is there any real hacker can help us out? We have this serious security problem at our home, and it's been 2 years. This guy whose wife is working for CIA, using government software to spy my entire family. It's okay if he just want to spy, but the worst is he keep doing childish things to harm us. He spying our entire Internet network, keeping sending virus to us, and damaged 3 printers and 3 computers... even when kids needed to submit homework via Internet, he blocked our Internet. As I'm typing this, my computer screen keeps go freezing. When our 80-year-old grandparents go travel overseas, we sent fax to people overseas the schedule and info to pick them up at the airport, this bad guy blocked the fax in the middle, then he changed the time on document then faxed it to people overseas, so they couldn't pick up 2 seniors at the right time. He spy on all of our phone lines, always made noise during our phone conversation and cut the line in the middle. My mom couldn't take the

I downloaded a file and I can't get rid of it. I tried a virus check with Avast and also Adaware but nothing showed up. It keeps telling me that the file is used by another person or program.
The file is an EXE file that is 23.9MB.

I tried shutting down processes in the Windows Task Manager but nothing helped. I can't figure this one out. Any ideas would help.

I don't have alot of money to pay for the big companies subscription based antivirus software so I'm looking for the best I can get freeware or otherwise. Prevx worked well but I used up the 30 day trial. Also have spybot but that's not doing so well either. Any other suggestions?

i'm runing spysweeper program the lastest definition could not find it and antivirus could not find it as well it must be new, how can i delete this spything? althogh i reboot my pc twice but the red sign with th white cross is still working an making cautions. please guys you're my only hope

ok i need some help i have this problem with are internet every time i open up a web page and search for poker sites it deletes it i used to be able to but now i cant. i think it happend we took are computer into a shop to put a net nanny on it and i think the level of security on it is like a 100. the icon that is on are toolbar looks exactley like a 6 leaf hibiscus and every time you click on it it just ask for a password. can you please give me the name of this program. i cant take it back to the guy because he moved his buisness.is there a master password for this program please help me.(sorry 4 so many detales)

I have a trojan and used so many software scans and removal tools... but I cant get it out of my registry. I have a registry cleaner but I am petrified of deleting something important. Is there somewhere I can find the "file names" of my trojan (Look2me) to know which items to remove?

Is it malware?

It shows up as a browser helper object with AVG anti-spyware, but it doesn't actually say it's spyware, and it didn't show up on previous scans I ran with ZoneAlarm, AdAware and Windows Defender.

this is for my networking project .. its a firewall
different types of packets are to be sent from 1 terminal to another (on same machine ) , check if they are being accepted ,dropped,rejected ..........

Hello,
I am a grad student of UNL (www.che.unl.edu). My own ip address is : 129.93. 243.28.
I have two yahoo account where I get emails. I have found out that there are 2-3 people from my university, accessing my mail box and reading my confidential emails. I dont like that. I want to take it to police as this is destroying my privacy.I want to know if there is anyway, you guys can retrieve the information about the IPs, from where, there was/were logins into my account. How can report a crime of hacking my account to police? What other information I have to give?

I got rid of it once for two weeks, then it came back. I downloaded Zone Alarm, that got rid of it for two months, now it's back again. Can I get rid of this permanently? Without buying it? How?
