All you need is a good firewall and an antivirus program. Here you have a list with some free ones:

If you really want a security suite with both firewall and antivirus I recomend Zone Alarm.

I use in my secondary pc an antivirus program that I consider to be state of the art technology. You will get updates either once or twice per day. An the support is excellent.. All you have to do is give them your email and they will send you your free key that is good for one year. After one year you must ask for a new key.
You want to download their home version for personal use. The corporate version is the same, they just make corporate pay.

Never had one virus in over nine years.

All the security experts say that you should stay away from a secuirty suite, that tries be everything to everybody. You want to have a seperate firewall, antivirus, antispyware. Read what the experts have to say about suites, from: http://www.zdnet.com

You can only use one antivirus or you will have serious conflict with your system. You can use three or four antispyware programs as usually you need two good ones to find what the other does not find, and there is no conflict.

Here are three good ones.

http://www.superantispyware.com This program, is free, and will scan all 175,000 objects in my system. Plus it finds the very difficult spyware that is always missed by other programs. You must update on a manual basis. They will give you any new version with an automatic update. The paid version only has a background scan, an auto updates. Otherwise the same.

http://www.ewido.net I am on ADSL, if you are on dialup this is an excellent malware program that is free if you do not purchase in thirty days. They just remove the guard in the tray and you will have to update on a manual basis daily.

Here is another good one:

http://www.emsisoft.com They will require you to give them your email address as they will send you a free key. Download thier free version. Again the free is the same as the payed version, you just don't get auto updates or the background guard. Also excellent if you are on dailup as it protects you from rogue dialers.

Use a seperate firewall, Not the one that comes with Windows XP Prof., as it only protects you from incoming traffice. A good firewall must protect you from incoming traffice as well as the traffice that leaves your pc.

http://www.zonealarm.com Excellent free home for personal use. They will give you daily automatic updates an any new version is free via automatic updates.

Any expert will tell you to stay away from those suites that cliam to do everything. You really want seperate protection for each item I listed above.

Download AVG for your antivirus program, Ad-Aware SE Personal for your antispyware and ZoneAlarm for your firewall. All of these are free and can be found online.
