The term hacked is rather general these days. If you mean someone, not sitting at the keyboard, accessed his computer then he/she has a real issue. However, if their Yahoo account was compromised then a password change is needed. Someone suggested using a 32 character password. This is a bit impractical as most non savants couldnt remember a password that long. However, a pass phrase is great, serves the same purpose and the human brain can remember a phrase easily enough. Never share passs codes...even with friends. Do not write them down and do not store then in plain text on your computer.

As long as you have a complex password and keep it to yourself, and keep the answers to your secret questions truly secret, you won't get hacked.

People get hacked because they either give out their passwords or have easy to guess ones. Some get fooled by "phishing" e-mails to "verify" their account details. Others give them out to friends without thinking of the potential implications.

Most folks on Yahoo, MSN, etc. who get hacked get hacked by someone they know who guesses their passwords or knows them well enough to know the answers to the "secret" questions.

use a really long password. i think 32 characters is the longest yahoo allows. use a mixture of letters and numbers. some letters should be caps and some small. a password like this is nearly impossible to guess and crack. don't arrange these so they form any kind of word.

if your friend got hacked... the hacker more than likely knows of you know. chances are probably 50/50 depending on why your friend got hacked.
