My lap top "logs out" of windows when my computer is inactive for a while.

How do I set it so that I only have to enter a password when booting up the computer?

A friend has asked for help - AVG picked this up on virus scan: Trojan Horse Generic.zvx It won't heal or delete and can't be transferred to the virus vault.

I've done a google-search which comes up with nothing. I want to try to keep things simple as my friend's not too good with technology and I've not got access to his pc.

I've told him to unplug from the Internet and do a scan with Adaware which he has already got installed on his pc.

Anyone else heard of this Trojan or can suggest anything else I can do?

I think I have some weird stuff going on but Mcaffee says no viruses found. When I click to go to different sites I hear a clicking sound every time. Also, what is the best settings for the exceptions tab in the firewall?

should admins know their user's passwords, because they can log into as the user and the user would be held accountable for what is done, and not the admin.

someone in my neighbor has a sniffer and is watching all that is going on on my network. I know I could secure it but I let alot of the local college kids use it and with them coming and going I didn't want to have to issue passwords. This person actually told me he is watch all the activity on my network with his sniffer and high powered antenna.
He is not actually using my Net, but using his sniffer to watch and track what everyone else is doing on my network. If he was just using internet access I could care less. He say it is not illegal unless I security and he break the security. How can I stop this.

...no browser is open (and no one's using the computer at that moment)? When I tried to open it from Temporary Internet Files, it looked like a page full of HTML code.

How about cookies -- can those automatically download even though the browser isn't open?

PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE!!!!

Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not
be able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment.

This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel.

You should be alert during the next days:
Do not open any message with an attached filed called "Invitation" regardless of who sent it.

It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which "burns" the whole hard disc C of your computer.

If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.*

I've recently been told that my girlfriend is cheating on me. If this is true, I'm positive there'd be proof in her yahoo email account as she has a couple of friends she tells everything to. I know her address (obviously) and she has told me her password in the past. So it wouldn't be me 'hacking' or anything. But I'm not about to do anything illegal. So am I correct in assuming that checking her emails would be illegal, even if she's told me her password?

I want to convert the files to any unprotected format: mov, rm, vob, wmv, mpg, avi, mp2, mp4, m4v even, just get them unprotected! I have a legal right to put my videos on DVD, but i don't know how. Screen recorders make it too choppy. Tunebite Video mutilated the quality. Burning to DVD only makes them as data files, so they won't play! What do i do?

I just installed ewido and ad-aware se(though it seems they serve the ame purpose).I had to install this because I caught a virus yesterday that AVG could remove. But ewido did the job.My question is what is the resident shield?I am no computer expert and after my 30 day trial it will remove the resident shield and automatic updates.Does the removal of the resident shield just mean that they wil not alert me when I get malware and I have to scan periodicaly? It seems that the automatic updates are not that imperative to the security of my comp, but I am not too sure. This is just a conjecture. Is there free software that I can download that works just as well as ewido? If so, can you recomend it to me?I have 29 days left before trial ends for ewido.Thank You!

Lately our router or something like it was acting up pretty bad so we had to do without it with our only protection from things on the net being Zone Alarm. But just a matter of minutes ago I opened up the window, checked what was going on in general with it, and then it said "not responding" at the top. I tried exiting out of it and the window wouldn't close, then when it finally closed it disappeared from those small icons at the bottom right hand of my screen right next to the time. So what happened?? I know Answers is safe to use because it never said that any access attempts had been blocked while I was on here but when I wasn't on the net there would be several access attempts blocked, even some that were highly rated according to ZA. I tried searching for it on my computer but it came up with NOTHING.
