okay i might sound a little dumb asking this but im clueless as of now .

i currently have a Windows PC...
im planning on switching to a Mac Laptop .
i have an internet connection right now w. the modem connected through the ethernet cable .

when i get my laptop,
since it's a wireless connection,
how in the hell do i switch my internet on over to the laptop then...
w. out all the cables ??

do i call my ISP ?
or can i do it myself w. out much help ?

please help !

I'm having problems with prank callers at the moment. Looking to go to police. Is there anyone that works for T-mobile or Orange who can tell me whether all calls are recorded. I'm thinking this should help as they can trace whoever registered the phone, even though they probably used fake details. How long are the recordings kept? I'm at my whits end. Is there also a way of telling where these people are when they make the call or send texts? Please help.......

I mean....if you dont save your IMs and if your email is deleted ...how do people like detectives retrieve it...so then how can i permantly remove it? I have a computer i want to give someone but i want to make sure any emails or IMS cant be retrieved later

I have DVDfab. i want to rip the main movie only. and the finished result to be about 700mb in avi. format. i want it only on my hardrive.

For example.. i used DVDfab and ripped a movie into my computer, but the result was about 4 vob. files and the size was about 4gigs.

so how can i get these 4 vob. files into ONE big file. and how can i get it to 700mb. i do not want to burn anything on a disc, i just want it on my hardrive

Recently, I when I was logged on, my mouse stopped working. Thinking nothing of it (I have a wireless keyboard/mouse), I unplugged the receiver, and tried to re-connect the keyboard/mouse. However, I still couldn't move the mouse/keyboard. So I tried a corded keyboard/mouse (using PS2) and it still wouldn't work. I've tried rebooting, and it still wont work (I'm using a different computer right now). However, I know that the keyboard/mouse/hardware isn't defective because I was able to boot onto Ubuntu (Linux) via a live CD, and everything worked just fine (keyboard/mouse). Regardless, I still can't get into Vista...I get stuck at the log-on screen (I've got a password, and safe mode doesn't work). My only method of input is a media center remote (plugs into USB ... but that only 'types' numbers (which do, however, appear). I've got absolutely no idea what to do.

This is the situation. I am doing a presentation on Power Point in version 2003 and I need to present it in version 2000 (or even 97)...
First...how do I go in order for my presentation so it keeps the animation? I tried saving it in older version and it still looses some animation features (changes the speed, fonts, etc). I have my Power Point in my flash drive.

Second...I have a video in my presentation and it plays okay in the original version (2003) but when I insert my flash drive into a PC with version 2000 it doesn't play....my video is in AVI format.
I would appreciate any help please, I tried several ways and I'm going crazy. Thank you

most people i know say sew-nee (as in to sew a dress)
but i have always said Sony, that rhymes with Bonny
is it just very british to say sew-nee?
(i am british but for some reason say Sony (Bonny)

I'm writing a powerpoint presentation for a training workshop on Friday. One aspect of the training is looking at filing electronic document (i.e. using folders and sub-folders properly). I'd like to 'show' my folders - can I do this through powerpoint (i.e. through a screen-grab of my documents or something) or do I have to come out of powerpoint and navigate through my documents?

that works out at about £500 so if i were to buy it from there + p&p etc

I burned one song on a disk and I have a CD/RW but when I go to erase disk it says it cannot because it is write protected. I made the disk and want to add more songs. any solutions or am i sol?

On my computer, everytime I go to log into something, when I start to type my user name, a list of all the usernames that have ever been entered on my computer pop up. How can I make it stop doing that? Is there a feature somewhere that I can disable? I would like to get rid of that list that always shows up. Thanks!

I want to leave Flickr before their fee goes into effect.

I have around 2,300 jpg photos I will be burning onto DVD discs.

How many jpg photos can fit onto one DVD Disc?

And if you can recommend any 3rd party tools to transfer photos from Flickr to my hard drive, so I can to disc I will greatly appreciate it!

I have broken my CRT and my resolution is stuck at 1600x1200, I need to use my TV then to get onto my computer and the TV only supports 1024*768 or less so I am stuck only being able to see the boot-up screens and then it goes off into never ever land and I can't see the screen at all.

I have cable internet connection which uses a router. My internet connection is down very often through out the day every day. Everytime it is down, I would have to unplug the internet cable connection from my router, then replug it in again, over and over and over, until my internet connection works again..... What is wrong with my internet connection? Do I just have a defective router or is it my internet provider's fault ? Which means, I should call my internet provider about this?

Here's how I deleted things- I went to the Control Panel, clicked on Add & Remove Programs, and selected a few to uninstall. I even deleted a few that were 100 mb.

Here's how I checked my RAM- I went to the folder My Computer and right clicked. Then I selected properties. It showed me 244 MB of RAM. Afer I deleted stuff, it sayed the same.
I have a Windows XP

I sold a laptop on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160178741235)
that was damaged by someone spilling coffee on it and made it clear that the unit did not turn on and it was for parts or repair. I explained corrosion I found on the motherboard, that I even replaced the keyboard.

The buyer is unhappy and said the following:

"The fact is that such item had been badly abused. If it was you who tried to repair it, you failed to mention that there are parts missing and broken off the motherboard. The connection from the motherboard to the Media Card Slot is missing. Also, there is a broken connection under the Power botton. "

What's the best way to reply? Basically it was my understanding that I washed my hands of it because the title "For Parts Or Repair" and described as in not working condition. When you get an item like that don't you expect there are going to be things wrong?

hi... so i dont know about ur computors but mine has 2 disks
one is local disk C: and the other is local disk D:
C: has the operating system on it and D: is where i put all of my files... but i have a problem
sometimes when i download things and it automatically saves itself (when it DOESNT say ' save file to______ ' ) it saves itself to C:.well my C: disk it only 8 Gigs and it is completely full is there any way to switch places of the disks so the C: is secondary and the D: is the primary one or the first one where everything automatically saves to.

please help
and if u can help please explain every detail on what to do
im completely computer illiterate
so any help is good if this can even be done

i am installing my audio driver but it says that "at minimum, you must have service pack 1 installed for windows xp." then, ive download service pack 2 for xp but when im trying again to install my audio driver it says again that "at minimum, you must have service pack 1 installed for windows xp." i just want to ask if ive already downloaded the service pack 2, it means that ive already installed it?? please help..
