I sold a laptop on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160178741235)
that was damaged by someone spilling coffee on it and made it clear that the unit did not turn on and it was for parts or repair. I explained corrosion I found on the motherboard, that I even replaced the keyboard.

The buyer is unhappy and said the following:

"The fact is that such item had been badly abused. If it was you who tried to repair it, you failed to mention that there are parts missing and broken off the motherboard. The connection from the motherboard to the Media Card Slot is missing. Also, there is a broken connection under the Power botton. "

What's the best way to reply? Basically it was my understanding that I washed my hands of it because the title "For Parts Or Repair" and described as in not working condition. When you get an item like that don't you expect there are going to be things wrong?

You "clearly" stated in your auction that it is AS IS basically.
HE COULD HAVE ASKED YOU QUESTIONS, did he?
Deny him a refund if he didnt ask questions.
He seems like hes trying to scam you, just like jewelry/gems, HE COULD DO a bait and switch. you know take parts, and put some bad ones in....DENY ANY REQUESTS FOR A REFUND!
he really cannot do anything about it.
take the neg feedback, its better than getting scammed.
i have one neG feedback out of 180--->its not much, but damnit i try.
tell him to SUCK IT UP, AND KISS your a$$!

Buyer wanted something for nothing
I dont think he has a case but do this BUT IF HE PAID VIA PAYPAL,
clean out your paypal account.
If he files anything on you via paypal, paypal will HOLD your funds until it 'investigates'
I dont see where the seller will have a leg to stand on but the 'investigation' might take 2 weeks or longer. dont allow them to tie up your money that long....

BASICALLY
'phuck him'
I hope you did not leave feedback for him first ...
I would NOT refund his money
you were very clear on your page about the condition of the computer
furthermore, he had to take it apart to see all the problems he is complaining about....who is to say that he did not remove the media card slot or whatever it is he is complainig about...basically it sounds like some novice got in over his head and thought he could fix this only to find out that he couldnt. I suggest that the new owner (him) lists this computer just like you did.
at this point it is your word against his DO not refund his money, you are not a store
if he wants a refund on an add like this, tell him that he should have been shopping via walmart.

I reviewed your item. You should be covered since you clearly stated the laptop doesn't work.
Best advice I could give you.... contact ebay prior to the buyer. Ebay should have your back on this one. Good luck and hope you got a new housecleaner.

I see nothing in your fault on the sale of this item. It was listed for parts or repair and it appears that is exactly what the buyer got.Take your money and run dude as he has no ground to stand on.He may leave a negative feed back against you but you can leave the same for him. You can't please everyone.

I believe your ad is completely clear that the laptop does NOT work and has issues. She wouldn't be able to do anything, but you might want to consider charging her only for the listing fee / refunding if you care about your 100% rating. It is her fault though.

Short answer: "The customer is always right."

Long answer: If you made it clear in your post that the item was good only for parts and repair then the buyer has no reason to be upset.

I clearly understood your description. You are in the clear. Ebay will back you up if the buyer opens a dispute.

Well you clearly stated that it wasnt working, dont worry about it... just leave him negative feedback if he leaves you it, also explain why he left it back and show that you did tell it wasnt working in your item description

if you clearly stated in your selling that it was broken and needed repair it's not your fault and tell the buyer that he or she should have read and it's clearly stated
