this is an age-old question that i still don't have a real answer to. which is better for a computer: leaving it on 24/7 and letting it snooze, or turning it off every night? and is there any difference in the answer when you are talking about a laptop versus a desktop? thanks!

I have tried Sonic to record I have tried windows media to burn and also have tried I tunes. I even got someones cd burner drive that worked and plugged it into my HP System and it still would not recognize blank cd. I don't know what else to do. I have tried all different blank cd's.

My best friend has this little red horse moving across her screen when a page she is looking for is loading. Once it is finished loading it is no longer there. I have looked everywhere so I can get it on mine and no one seems to know what it is. I have seen it on other computers so where can I get it?

Hello there, wondering if anyone can help. I cannot play DVD's on my computer for some reason. I have windows media player and that is in working order as i use it for putting music on my mp3 player.
I recently tried to play a store brought DVD. It opened up in media player and the computer recognised what the DVD was but said it couldn't play it, something about needing a decoder?! Any ideas?

this is with reference to service provided by hcl support team because which i am suffering from last one month.

I had taken a brand new laptop and the keyboard the laptop started giving me problem in just one month and when i approached to the service center, they said its an physical damage, and i will have to purchase a new keyboard, which i said yes to them, since i did not wanted to waste time in arguing about the warranty and all that stuff.

It has been more than one month and i have not yet received my keyboard yet. and when i call up at service center they don't know when it will come.

I Really don't understand the kind of service is hcl is providing to their customer and if it is like that only, then i think need to approach the consumer court for the same.

I believe every company has their support rules and if the company can not give the service to their customers then i think company should close their business and go away rather than harassing the customers.

ok so i have an issue with my mac. I forgot my password and i dont know how to change it becuase it requires you to have your old password as well. Hey everyone,
I just tried to help a friend out, because her email wasn't working and i had to try and pull it up through thunderbird and it didn't import them all and the setting was on where it deletes them from the original email address, well it didn't finish them all, but it did delete them all off of the original, what do i do to get them back, please someone help

is there a specific version of service pack 2 for Pro users??

How many service pack 2's are there?

or can service pack 2 work for both home edition & pro...

Becasue many times i installed service pack 2

and when the computer boots up


it would say


"windows xp" only!!

before i put service pack 2

whast funny is that it doesnt say professional anymore

my keyboard works until windows xp loads and then you can see the light go off on my keyboard and then it doesnt work no more,,,,what should i do?........ another question is when i try to shutdown my computer is has the options- STANDBY,TURN OFF and RESTART, the standby button wont light up and i cant click on that, is that a problem and can it be fixed?

on my monitor. Does anyone know how I can make the writing (like on here, for instance) -- BIGGER??? I know how to change fonts when I'm typing in word, etc....but I'm talking about readings these words and on myspace....I have an OLD PC. Help? A colleague and I discovered that the computer that had the drivers for the printer was not connected to the printer. He switched the towers so that he could access the printer. What he discovered was that the tower with the drivers for the printer had a virus. We found out that the computer has Symantec on it so he ran an upgrade from online .A while ago he went to use the computer again and was checking for the virus to find out if it is gone. What is happening now is that a red light is blinking and the computer is emitting an annoying beep. Is this normal when a diagnostics is being run? How can we get rid of this annoyance and debug the computer?Please help me urgently .
