Becasue i have Windows XP Professional

is there a specific version of service pack 2 for Pro users??

How many service pack 2's are there?

or can service pack 2 work for both home edition & pro...

let me know!!

Becasue many times i installed service pack 2

and when the computer boots up


it would say


"windows xp" only!!

before i put service pack 2


it said:


Windows XP
Professional


Co. 1985-2001



Now it says




Windows XP


CO. Microsoft



whast funny is that it doesnt say professional anymore


does this happen to home users too???

That's all perfectly normal ... there is only 1 SP2 ... your computer is behaving as it should ... if you let the Microsoft Screen Saver kick in it will still say XP Professional :)

There is a Service Pack 1a and 1b available.

1a came out a long time ago, probably over 2 years ago, and Service Pack 1b came out after MS was required to change how Windows treats it's Internet Explorer and other add-on applications that are pre-installed due to their Anti-Trust lawsuit.

I would suggest using the 1b as it lets you un-install things you couldn't previously, plus all the latest security updates are included with that as well.
