So i reinstalled windows xp on my computer to make it faster and when i went to get on the internet, it said that it didn't work. i dont know what is wrong with it. i've tried everything and i was wondering if it could be the ethernet adapter. is that what it could be?

How do you protect yourself from someone who wants to return item for refund because of any possible reason, given the fact software can be copied, pirated, etc...?

How do you determine if the buyer is trying to screw you over, or if the software really is defective, not working, etc...?

I have a Pentium III (Compaq, 128Mb RAM, 40 Gb hard drive) that came with preinstalled Windows ME. Since I'm thinking to get a fresh start (formatting the hard drive and install the OS), I'm wondering if it is a good idea to reinstall the WinME system (I have the CD from Compaq), or install Win2000 or WinXP (I have both). I heard that XP is relative small, but is my system good enough for it? What about Win2000?
I reinstalled WinME once before and I'm sure it'll work fine. But nowadays some third party programs don't run on ME any more. I checked compaq website and did not find much helpful tips.

I currently have the text under my desktop icons with a large coloured box behind it. I know how to change the colour of this box but how do I remove it? I used to have it removed but my PC came back from the shop and I have to redo the settings.

We got our computer in 2001. Emachines Model T2482, 254mbRAM (Emachines lied said 256mb), 80gb hd, 10/100mb broadband w/ aol


So here's the story: Our computer has always been slow but we got used to it and it became normal to us. In August our warranty was about to wear out. We thought we would take it down to Best Buy (where our warranty was from) and it would come back the speed of lightning- everything fixed. Abouta month later we got it back and it was slow as crap. They told us we had to have Norton and SpySweeper on it. We payed 100 smackers for it. Spy sweeper doesn't work, it freezes up. Norton does. Also it has a mind of it's own. I't likes to shut off the mouses PS/2 port and make the cursor dart all over the screen. We shut it down about once or twice a day because it freezes up. What is wrong. Norton says we don't have a virus. MS employees and other people PLEASE HELP!

when i click to down load someting a popup says 'internet download manager has not been registerd for 30 days. trial period is over an IDM is existing...' and then another thing comes up telling me to enter registeration details!! the thing is i didint down load it a it wont go away ant help???

I have saved on 2 DVD+Rs the Macy's Parade from tv. I can play this footage on my computer through Dell CinePlayer, but my question is: how do I e-mail this footage (only a couple of 2-minute segments) to others? Is that possible? Have I thoroughly confused you? :) Thank you.

The games said things like Direct x9.0 for the sound card and 32 bit for the graphics card. I have no idea whether my PC is suitable for these games and don't know how to find out. The order form for my PC says: "128MB ATI Radeon X300 SE HyperMemory graphics card". Couldn't see anything about a sound card. The PCs a DELL Dimension 5150 Pentium 4 630 (3.00GHz) with Windows XP - if that helps!
If anyone can help me with this I would very much appreciate it.

The window appears to split in half then close out one side at a time. I have cleared out all cookies and temp internet files and also run a defrag and nothing helps. Any suggestions ? Thank you.
