I currently have the text under my desktop icons with a large coloured box behind it. I know how to change the colour of this box but how do I remove it? I used to have it removed but my PC came back from the shop and I have to redo the settings.

Thanks.

Oh, you need to change the effect settings that alter preformance and quality...

i had this problem also, and its very annoying...

right click on my computer icon, go to properties and click on the tab that says "advanced".

then, under preformance, click "settings"...

then check "use drop shadows for icon lables on the desktop"

:-)
