I can only suggest the following method, which I use for pound signs - and the following instructions are only relevant if you have Windows XP on a PC.
1.Go to Start Menu

2. Go to 'Control Panel', then 'Regional and Language Options'

3. Click on 'Customize'
4. Then click on the 'currency tab'
5. Change the currency symbol to the Euro. What used to be the dollar sign is now given as a Euro.
To switch back to the dollar, follow the steps above, but use the dola,lr symbol as your currency symbol.

Sorry- that's the only way I can think of doing it!

The code for that symbol is U+OO3A or Keystroke: Alt+0163
The code will appear in the lower task bar in the Character Map program in System Tools.
