my pc will only read a disc in the cd rom when first switched on after that it says disc not formatted or corrupt. Floppy drive keeps asking if i want to format disc and then says disc cannot be formatted and i have just bought a flash memory stick and my pc will only recognise that when first swithed on. after that it says disc in drive "E" not formatted.

ps. operating system is windows xp pro could it be something in the bios?

I have windows XP and every time I startup, My Computer window opens. I went to msconfig and looked at the startup list but 'My Comuputer' was not listed. I would like to know how to prevent My Computer from opening.

I have about 20-30GB I want to save off my computer to make space. What would I use to save thes files? I have CD-Rs but they only hold 700MB each. Is there anything that holds 5-10 MB? Thanks

I had windows xp ...it was run ok on my pc....but now I upgrade it with service pack 2... now I face a problem with shut down ...when I shut down my pc ..the screen Shutting down wiondows....displayed very long time and never shut down pc...I have to manully switch off it frm power button..... please tell me the Solution

ok so computer worked fine, then transported it, it didnt move mucyh really, set it up at home, plugeed the power, keyboard mouse and monitor in, and then the network cable, as soon as i plugged in the network cable it turned on, it loaded to where it says windows is loading and then every single time it goes to blue screen of death right after. when i try to do a windows repair it says hard drive not found, the computer worked like 3 hours beofre i tried all this... any advice or ideas ????

WELL WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN IT BY CLICKING ON THE DESKTOP ICON, A SMALL ERROR SCREEN POPPED UP SAYING ("THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN DAMAGED,POSSIBLY BY A BAD SECTOR OF THE HARD DRIVE OR A VIRUS.PLEASE REINSTALL IT")
THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE & I SCANNED MY COMPUTER WITH MCAFEE & IT FOUND NO VIRUSES. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG?

I have saved much information from my family tree in form of an email and attachment from AOL and saved it via Aol ON MY PC.
i SEE THE EMAILS in the file folder but it won't allow me to pull them up. Can someone help me with this? Where did they go? Very crucial information. HELP

I did this a while ago on my laptop that didnt have a recovery partition, im installing xp pro on my xp home, and it is being very annoying about the partitions, i would rather just erase all of the partitions using the cmd way. How do i do this?
