Sounds like your hard drive is dying. Most likely happened when you were moving it.

IS this a SATA hard drive or IDE? dont know the difference?.. a SATA drive has a thin cable about 3/4 of inch wide, IDE are the ugly flat gray cables about 2 inches wide.

There are a number of things you can try, I'm sure some ideas would start pouring in soon. First I would start at a the beginning, Check the drive cable, make such its connected properly and check that the power to it the connected properly. Is the hard drive light even coming on at all?

Start up the computer, hit the button to get into the bios, usually the DEL key and make sure the bios recognizes the hard drive, under the headings "Standard bios options". If that's OK reboot.

Second while booting, hit the Function key then F8 while windows is booting, it should give you a number of options for booting, try "safe boot", if that don't work try boot to "last good know configuration".

It could also be an IRQ conflict. remove the network cable and try rebooting.

More details of the problem are necessary

Way back in the olden days, when PCs ran DOS, before picking up the computer you had to ship the hard drive. Typing the ship command locked the head that reads the drive in a safe place. In recent years the heads have been designed to "auto ship" but it sounds like yours didn't.

There is hope, if you haven't done too much damage by trying to do a repair. You need to boot to a WinXP CD and take the command prompt option and run check disk. If you had done this at the first blue screen it probably would have fixed everything. No telling now, but it's worth a try.

Well, I would start by checking your Molex power connector to the back of your HD. MAybe it came loose during the transportation. If this does not fix it, then check your IDE cable to ensure that it is properly inserted to your Motherboard and the back of your HD. If this still does not fix the problem, Then it looks like your HD will need to be replaced. Before going out and buying a new HD, if you have a used HD, install that and see if your PC sees it. If it does, then you now know what your problem is.

Godd luck!

Cheers!

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

Open it up, make sure the RAM cards or any other vital components didn't get rattled loose.
Also when trying to start it, go into the BIOS and make sure it hasn't screwed-up and needs setting back up again........... had that happen a few times end of last month / beginning of this month shortly before my old PC completely died on me.

it is quite likely that you jarred a cable loose when you moved it. Try checking your connections to your hard drive first.

Youre computer was unprotected from the moment you plugged it in. There was no anti-virus installed. It got infected. I suggest REFORMATTING the hard-drive and as soon as you have windows up and running again, download AVAST ANTI VIRUS V4.1 HOME EDITION. As soon as its downloaded....do a scan. This will prove invaluable to you. Trust me!

open it up and make sure all your wires are plugged in all the way
The same thing happened to me. After that I can't help you. The slightest drop can kill your HD. I had to scrap it
