I have about 20-30GB I want to save off my computer to make space. What would I use to save thes files? I have CD-Rs but they only hold 700MB each. Is there anything that holds 5-10 MB? Thanks

I would say a data disc but they do only hold 700mb. I usually just make multiple data discs. I think you meant to ask if there's anything that hold 5-10GB. I don't know.

EDIT: In response to an abover poster: I believe yahoo mail only holds 1GB, unless you're a paid user. Flash drives are good, but I think the biggest around will only hold 8GB, and it'll cost about $150.

For that amount of space, I would use either an external hard drive, which are pretty cheap these days (you can find 80GB for $60 on sites like http://www.newegg.com ), or if you don't want to shell out the cash, transfer the data to another computer.

If you have another computer and its fairly close physically to your current computer, just buy a "crossover cable" for $15 to set up a network between your computer and the other computer. Then you can transfer the files over the 'net. Its fast and easy. The only downside is that you'll have to tweak around with the network settings a bit to get it to work properly. Windows has a network configuration wizard that might do the trick.

In my opinion, get the external hard drive. Its much easier (just plug it into your computer via USB), and it will probably last you quite a while.

If you don't want to spend the money to get an External drive or don't like the idea, the only other way is to use WINZIP or similar utilities (compress your files) to make them smaller in size and save them to CD's. It will take you quite a few CD's though but its a cheaper solution.

Dual-layer DVD-Rs hold 8.5 GB each. You'd need to buy a DVD burner if you don't have one already though. They go for about $80 and a 3 pack of Dual layer DVDs is about $20.
