I am going into college (undeclared major) and I am leaning towards a desktop because I don't see myself carrying a laptop around, plus the risk of theft/damage. Space isn’t an issue; I will have a large desk with lots of room either way. Also, all of the computers at my college (including dorm computers) are on a network, so you can access your files anywhere. I'm so torn between the two!

I am creating a personal web site, and was intending on using frames, but have noticed that a few people are saying it's a bad idea (something to do with a virus?). However, it works fine on I.E. 6 / 7 as far as I can see.
So a few questions:
1) Does this apply to all frames, or just iframes (not that I know what the difference is!)
2) What browsers won't show content that uses frames, and how common are these?

after turning on pc,am typing in user name and password,but when i click on ok,message comes up saying"the system could not log you on".has anybody got any solution?it's windows 2000.

Whatever I try to type (using BT Yahoo browser) the 'Find' box comes up. I cant type at all.
Any ideas how to change it? Please?!

And before any sarky comments come in, its a diffeent computer to the one I'm using this for.

ok this problem happen when i got back from thanksgiving
when you tryed to open internet explorer it crashed and a report error message came up

i have a strong feeling something bad is wrong with the computer spybot ad aware and nortan didn't come up with anything im not that good at computers but not a complete idiot i went to look through the hard drive to see if there was some thing obvious in the first window the one with documents and settings and programs i found this file

it had some weird files in it
the same ones as internet explorer even .exe but the only difference was that these seemed totally unless i think someone hijacked our computer when we were gone (my dad was home...)
if anyone can provide any help please do so

a ping www.yahoo.com showed that there is a connection and our other computer with a shared connection worked also firefox works too but i think theres something really wrong about the computer.....

I've recently found out that I cannot view hidden files on my HP laptop. Even when I go to tools, folder options then select to view hidden files abosolutley nothing happens. And if you go back to folder options you'll see it has automatically been set back to do not show hidden files. No matter how many times i chose the show hidden files options nothing happens. scanned for viruses with AVG none detected. any ideas?
