You'll need:
1) a wireless router (connects to your cable modem)
2) a cable to run from the router to the Dell
3) a wireless card for the HP (internal or USB)

You shouldn't need anything else. WinXP works pretty well.

When you do setup the network, be sure to enable the highest level of password security to keep hackers out.

I don't know what roadrunner internet is, but if it is broadband all you need to do is buy a router that has wireless capabilities. Then you have to buy a wireless card (802.11g or similar) to access the internet if you don't have one (if it isn't a laptop it probably doesn't have one). If roadrunner is dial-up and not broadband such as dsl, cable, or satellite, you are out of luck.

You need a wireless router, to send the signal, and a wireless card for your hp to pick up the signal. I have the same thing, to run my pc upstairs. Be sure to get the same brand of each, it will work better..
