Ok I will try to walk you through a few steps:
Open your control panel and click on the system folder. Click on device manager. Under sound video and game controllers, do you see a yellow circle with an exclamation mark inside? If so, do the following:

1. Download the latest drivers for your soundcard from the manufacturer's website.
2. Unplug all network connections(even ICS where the other computer is not plugged in)
3. Uninstall the previous drivers and reinstall the new ones.

If you have no luck with this, try the following:

Check to see if your kmixer driver service is running. do this by opening a command prompt and typing "sc query kmixer". if it is running, it's state will be 4 (running). if it is not running, check to see if it is disabled by typing "sc qc kmixer". By default, this service should be set to 3 (DEMAND_START). If it is set to anything else, type "sc config kmixer start= demand" to change it's startup type. Reboot and see if that works.

Do you have speakers? Are they plugged in and turned on? Is the volume on your computer turned on? Is the volume on your music playing software on?

is the mute ON with the player?
is the mute ON the computer?
dbl clk the speaker icon near the clock and see if MUTE is checked. (ok for mute to be checked in the microphone slide)
speakers turned on and plugged in? and turned UP
headphones plugged in? (that mutes the speaker sound)
good luck..........
hear me????
GOOD LUCK !!
