Hello, I have been a licenced radio ham for 30 years so can probably help.

Each year 'The Call Book' is published and contains the names and addresses of all currently licenced UK hams. If you can tell me his callsign then I can look up the details and get back to you by private email.

You could also go to www.qrz.com
Enter the callsign in the box provided in the top left corner.
It may not be as up to date as the Call Book.

Your friend may have opted to have his details kept private. In this case the details will not be on the website but a note will be in the Call Book to say 'details witheld at licencees request'.

A radio will be of no use as you are not a ham. In any case you would have no idea where or when your friend is active.

A 27 MHz CB radio with SSB is not only illegal, but it does not operate on any amateur band so would be of no use.

i've got actually responded this formerly, in spite of the undeniable fact that not on YA. the respond that I got here up with had to do with the undeniable fact that politics are very plenty a actuality everywhere, surprisingly the place you have competing hobbies. they could very nicely have regulations which forestall them from doing what you recommend. yet another answer i've got heard is that the extraterrestrial beings are all meant to be telepathic. If that grew to become into the case, they does not have developed radio technologies, and could have a confusing time with the concept. there are likely a great variety of issues that we've not seen. however the actual difficulty is that there is no good info that any radio source declares in area. we are actually not interested in listening; we could desire to chat.

there used to be a register of which call sign was registered to who... i'm talking about 20 years ago not sure if this is still about.

In those days details of where to send QSL cards were also listed, not sure if its still about though.

Good luck

Have you tried http://hamcall.net/call

That might provide you with his name and address ... but, of course, since he is a "friend" then likely you already have his name and address. Since you don't have a transceiver, maybe you will have to try the Alexander Graham Bell invention?

you need a ham radio, unless you have another friend who has all the equipment and get them to contact your friend, unless you can find an old 27meg am cb with sideband----cee-Q--cee-Q--see-Q-dee-ex :o)
