Computer memory is RAM (random access memory)

What ram does, is hold information on temporary basis. for example, opening this page, the computer does not keep this web file saved onto your computer, it just opens it so that you can view it and move onto the next website (cashe'ing and such, are for other things are not important to this point)

Now, in your computer you have this ram, probobly on a couple of chips. sometimes the computer needs to make space and moves information from one chip to another, and sometimes in doing so the descriped BSoD (blue screen of death) appears.

well at least that is my understanding of what causes this problem

Your operating system is crashing and all RAM memory is is being dumped in a file that can be analysed.
its called BSOD.
Blue screen of death.
You have a physical hardware or software fault that is de-stabilising the Operating system.
