The user manual says that "Seagate does not recommend using portable external hard drive for transferring data between Windows and Mac" Is this really true???? Will my dad's PC be able to read the data? I just shipped it 2000 miles across the country ... When he plus it into his MAC, will all the data be lost?

Upon switching on the CPU... the monitor displays monitor is enabled and with signal.... but after that no actions on CPUs... Power supply is on.... hardisk lights on... but no CMOS reaction... rather no displays of CPUs at all...

I have a new HCL Beanstalk system. This new system is not very efficient espcially i am having a lot of trouble with the keyboard. It is a wireless keyboard.even after changing the batteries 20days ago there are a lot of problems in the keyboard. I notice that i will have to press the keys a couple of times to type that letter on the keyboard and sometimes the letter repeats itself too many times.Even when using the backspace too many letters get deleted automatically.Is it really a problem with the keyboard or the batteries need to be changed. If the problem is with the batteries, i checked them on the optical mouse and it is working fine on the mouse. This happens very often. How will i troubleshoot this ?

Every few weeks out of the blue my DSL modem has to be reset- we know how to do it, but it's Tedious and this shouldn't be happening!!!

We had a printer attached to our front USB port, and our daughter came in, and tripped over the cable. Unfortunately, this broke the USB, the pins touched, caused a short circuit, resulting in the power supply, motherboard, and hard drive to be damaged. We had not backed up the data (I know, I know!), and would like to retrieve the data if possible. Unfortunately, when the damaged hard drive is connected to another computer, it does not work, as it must have blown some of the circuits. Is there any way to retrieve the data on the disk, as it has our holiday pictures from Florida last year (as well as other stuff)?

hi ok i just bought a dvd-rw and i want to install my cd-rw also but when i do i set the dvd-rw as master on 2nd ide port ans the cd-rw as the slave on 2nd ide port when i start up in safemode and normal mode windows freezes up? does anyone know why this coyuld be happening? plz help its cuz so i can burn or copy two cds at a time and my cd-rw reads the cds faster pl plz help thanks oh i have an lite-on dvdrw and lg-hitachi cd-rw ABIT KG7 motherboard and like 511 mb memory 70 Gb HD amd athlon 1700+windows 2000 thanks

i got a power surge at my house and my hd got messed up by the shock and now when ever i try to turn on my computer. it restarts just before it gets to the blue login screen, i tried to press f8 and go "last configuration that work". i dont have my xp cd and i cant find my back up cd's is there any way i can get into my computer ?

My DVD burner can read CD but DVD now. so I am going to clean my DVD burner's lens by compressed air , so I have questions :
1. what equipment can produce compressed air to blow the lens
2. I knew there are two lenses on burner, one for CD and another one for DVD, how can I find the right one? thanks
