I was able to do so before, but it just stopped. I've tried a new pack of CR-R's, and still no go.

Ok, Have a system with SATA hard drive and I am trying to install an IDE drive on the system. Only have one IDE port and currently have 2 CD/DVD drives using that. So I bought a SATA 2 IDE Adaptor (Siig's version). My motherboard (P5GPL) has 4 SATA slots, with 2 labeled Master and 2 Slave. I'm unsure which slot I should be plugging the drive into. I would think the slave next to the master that has my SATA drive on it? Anytime I try that my system can't find the SATA drive to boot. Any other place, the system boots, but windows XP doesn't see the drive, nor the bios.

Don't know what else to put here? Any help would be appreciated. I feel like I'm going through trial and error and someone must know enough to point me in the right direction.

I have my extra hard drive hooked up as a slave on the same IDE cable as my cd/dvd rom.Is that the way it goes or do i have to put my extra hdd as master and my cd rom as slave? help please.

In the hope that some of you will actually read this, when asking for computer help have the decency to ad details such as, what operating sytem you are running! Questions like, my usb isnt working, my mail has a problem, my browser is slow, etc . We need to know items like, what are you using for e mail? Which browser are you using? I would like to take an external USB/IEEE hard drive that contains AVI or DIVX files and connect it directly to a TV (S-Video perhaps) and play the files directly without having to connect through a PC.

It says one of my files is either deleted or corrupt.. So I did what it said and put the disk in and push 'r' (to recover it)

but now (after all that) it's asking me


"Which Windows installation would you like to log onto?"

and I have no clue what this means!
Can anybody please help me?

My computer screen went to a black screen with a bunch of information on it and I cant go to my desk top, etc. The only information that shows an error was "Primary Master Hard disk S.M.A.R.T. status Bad. I put the start up disk in and it gives me an error of "file serial .sys is corrupted" can anyone tell me what this could be??

I am considering a job as a cable installer in brevard county,fl.the possible wage advertised is 40k-60k.is this income feasible? I understand it is a contracting position,what percentage of my incomce do i expect to pay in taxes?

I've just rebooted my Windows Xp because there was a virus infection. I'm not able to play any music files in Windows Media Player or in other application. I get an error saying no sound device is detected. I'm sure my speaker is connected and is in a good working condition. Please help me out.

What is virtual memory ? ....Why does my lap top say virtual memory is low ?....is this serious or important.....? Have I caused the problem ?....Should I be doing something to avoid this happening or is it just part of the system I need not worry about as it does correct itself... I do hope so. Thankyou.

everytime i try 2 burn 2 cd, it starts 2 burn then stops. it states try using different brand cd. i have tried several different types. it also says running 2 quik,so i slow down the speed,still the same thing. do i need 2 reinstall anykind of hardware? if so were would b a good place 2 get 1 on net.i have used differnt speed cds. sometimes it will burn a couple of songs then stops. help please. best answer gets 10 points.
