I would like to take an external USB/IEEE hard drive that contains AVI or DIVX files and connect it directly to a TV (S-Video perhaps) and play the files directly without having to connect through a PC.

get the new divx player for yer puter from divx.com
get a dvd burner
get a dvd player that supports divx format for t.v.
the new divx player burns movies in divx format

fit like 5 movies on 1 dvd
thats how i doit now

i mean yer video card ?

You need to pay a certain amount to get a software which gives you better reception on your PC. The software name is SATELLITE DIRECT. It will give you 3500 channels on your PC. A lot of my friends are using this.

no you need a relay device that can transfer the data that your trying to show, i might recomend using a laptop
