No it's Verizon DSL actually! The tech support is actually pretty good, but this whole thing is so irritating! It makes me want to go back to Cable internet...

Four possible problems --

1) Modem is not working correctly and needs fixed or replaced.

2) You are getting bad signals on the line (corrupted line) and the modem is getting mixed up on how to handle.

3) A slight possible problem is that your options on your computer are not set properly to handle the DSL hookup, but I doubt this since it only happens every few weeks.

4) Power or power spikes at the DSL Provider company is causing the DSL line to have errors and the DSL device stops working. This can happen in lighting storms, High wind, or someone hits a power pole!

In both cases, you need your DSL representative to send a technical person to do a check of your line and modem to be sure they are in good working order.

The technical person will likely tell you that since you are not getting the problem more often that they are likely not going to be able to trace down the problem.

Suggestion -- See if there is a log on your Internet connect that can be set on to trace all communications. You have a good chance of catching what is causing the problem if your computer has the capability to log problems. Mine is done through the security software I have installed.

Recommend going to Cable if you can. It does not cost too much more and you will have far fewer problems!

Yes, it must be yahoo dsl. So far that seems to be the only way to get it to work.

I have found that if I log out when I leave it for awhile and then log back on that happens less. If you let them disconnect you then you will probably have to turn it off and on and reboot. (Total pain)

If you call the number they will give you the most horrible information..like...check with the people who sold you the pc. what a crock..........I think the problem is that they keep getting more people and and not increasing the broadband apportionately.

Good Luck

the best option you got is to get a techie to help you with that. Call your ISP or Modem maker, either one should give you tech support.
