I paid a....lot of money for my laptop......I dropped the phone handset on the keyboard and now some of the keys are not level with the others, I am gutted and worried that I may have caused some damage below the keys. All is working properly except key no 2 which is not as responsive as before, any idea what I,ve done and can it be rectified?

Hey there!

basically, i have a computer at home, but i am going to college next year, not moving away, but it might be good if i had a laptop that was really light and i could take anywhere with me.

most laptops are about £400, but nice ones like vaio are £600.£800, £1,3000 pounds!

i am getting a job, only working one day a week as i am 16, so i get about £170s a month which is about $340 maybe??

so if i bought a asus, i could get it really quick like two months, and have money over to save for a car!

but am i just wasting my money?

thank you!

If I try to defragment my hard drive, I get a dialog box halfway through the "analysis" part of the defrag saying that it can't continue. Is there an easy fix for this?

Easy Tiger...

Is 4gb of ram too much in a laptop ?

I am going to upgrade soon with a 4gb option (for future proofing -to a degree).
I used to think 1gb would be too much ...up until a few years back.
I'm just not sure I'd use the 4gb to its full potental yet.

I bought this machine right before dual cores were becoming very affordable. It is still a good machine so I think if I could just upgrade to a good dual core, I could get another good two years out of it.

I have a laptop with a 256 DDR SODIMM PC2100 (133MHz) in slot one. Can added a 512 DDR SODIMM PC2700 (333MHz) into slot 2? Or do i have to buy a 256MB ram with the same speed?

After i install the ram, do i need to do any thing in CMOS?

I got a Intel Duo Core 2 Catrino using Vista window (?) and everything's been going great, but sometimes it would be really, extremely slow when it comes to multi tasking. I'm not an expert at computers, but I would be waiting for 20 min and it's still loading. Then I end up shutting it down unexpectingly and starting it again. Did I get a junk laptop or is it because it's new... ?

Laptop 1: AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 (2.0 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )

Laptop 2: Intel® Pentium® Core™2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2, 800MHz FSB)

Both are running Vista, with 2 GB DDR2.

The price difference between the two is $15.

What I do: photo and (light) video editing and virtual scrapbooking, burning DVDs of home videos and photos, watching DVDs, all sorts of office-type and internet work.

What I need to know is what is the big difference? If I'm performing multiple tasks, such as listening to music while I'm editing photos, with my Outlook open checking for emails every once in a while, I don't want the thing to freeze up on me -like my desk top currently does.

What is the difference between 2 MB L2 and 512KB + 512 KB L2 (other than 2MB euals more than 512KB + 512KB) - I mean why not write 1 MB instead of 512 + 512?

Also, I have heard AMD runs cooler and I have heard AMD runs hotter. Can anyone point me to research?

If I go to device manage I can see that its a "Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated flash memory controller". I went to the TI website expecting to find a section on drivers and then a place to select the reader I have.

Insted, all I can find it technical documents on various devices and the only support section is on design support.

After doing a search online I found this, which has limps to info on the controller, but now drivers.

http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/Texas_Instruments_PCIxx21_Integrated_FlashMedia_Controller_H/4-176440-1.html

I'm using Widows XP and would like it if I could go this to work.
