I have a compaq notebook and I was wondering if I install a fresh copy of windows xp professional will I still be able to install software like quickplay that originally came with my pc or if a message will pop up saying that I need a hp pc to install this? If this message occurs how can I make it so it can install?

it should all work correctly, and if you do find program that don't work just use something else.

Some of the HP provided software will only work with the HP OEM operating system, like quickplay.If you install the operating system that came with your pc you will have no issues, but if you install any other operating system most HP stuff will not work

yes you will be able to install all your software on your system, without any problems
but you will need to install all the drivers for your laptop,with out these drivers you' re hardware will not work
