Alienware desktops and laptops are for gaming. They usually put the high end graphics cards on their products, desktop or laptop.

Absolutely, but Alienware is dell. As you know there is more than one computer manufacturer, and Alienware is very expensive. If you have the cash, I say go after the wicked Alienware products. If you want to be a bit more frugal, I'd do a bit more homework with other companies and their gaming laptops line.

Alienware and Dell currently have the best lines of gaming laptops today, this is because the 2 companies have merged together but nor entirely. If you are not a heavy gamer, Area-51 m5550 would do, but a serious gamer would prefer Area-51 m9750. The only setback when buying alienware laptops is that its very expensive.

Alienware is a good system but you are paying more than you need, by about a thousand dollars.
It would be much cheaper to go to Newegg and by using the Alienware spec, pick the parts you need.
Don't worry about being a noob building your first 'puter. It is really pretty easy and there are plenty of resources out there that can help. Just read over newegg for a few days and you will pretty much know what you need to do.
The only other advice I can give about building your own is to become familiar with ESD (electro-static discharge) - keep yourself and your work on a grounded surface while building , by using a grounded work mat and grounded wrist strap to defeat this phenomena.

one of the best since they focus on gameing.other options include and are as good....dell xps series laps..msi custom laptops and ibuypower.com.all are gameing laptops.alienware is by far the most expensive.sometimes 3 -4 time what you could spend elseware.i personaly would go to msi or go to ibuypower and configure it based on an alienware and a little google power.you will save alot or doe.
