because the adapter cord that connects the laptop to the adapter is like ripping. i can position it in a way so that the power will go through the cord but then this fire cracking sound comes and little sparks start going---i dont want to start a fire! so...is there another way to power the laptop? i'm using my iMac right now, but in order to do my comp tech hw, i need windows xp and i need it now ish. and my adapter can't be replaced since i cant find them in stores.. help? or am i just screwed? :[

contact manufacturer of laptop, or google and you will find PLENTY generic ones out there

Alternatively if it's the cable betweenthe wall and the "transformer" that should be easy to replace, even for a tosh style with the 3 offset pins.

pretty much unless you pay the company 30 bucks for a new cord

Tell everyone your laptop name and someone will be able to find you an adapter.
