You've got a decent processor for gaming but gaming performance is more dependent on the graphics card. Integrated graphics in most laptops will not run Oblivion.

Laptops with powerful dedicated graphics card can run Oblivion. Examples are the Geforce 8600M GT, ATI Mobility HD2600 XT or 8700M GT.

look for the specs on the game, since you have core 2 duo, if you double your speed (1.5) you get your "equivalent processor speed" on the box. yours is 3 ghz obviously. you should be good for gaming. if it runs slow, lower the graphics and sound settings. and you probably want at least a 1 gig of ram

video games doesnt only rely on the processor
it relies on the Video card and the memory too

so tell us what is your memory aka RAM
and your video card

also remember that increasing your virtual memory helps a lot when running video games

your computer is only as fast as its slowest component. for optimal performance, upgrade to higher clocking RAM, check if your hard drive's speed is 72000 rpm and your video card is fast enough for your other components and if it has ample amount of video memory.
