I have a laptop with a 256 DDR SODIMM PC2100 (133MHz) in slot one. Can added a 512 DDR SODIMM PC2700 (333MHz) into slot 2? Or do i have to buy a 256MB ram with the same speed?

After i install the ram, do i need to do any thing in CMOS?

OK I love the answers here at times

ok if you have 2100 and you put 2700 yes it will work but
the system will lag du the correction it make for having two different memory speeds.
the single 512 will allow the unit to run faster than have the 512 and the 256 installed.

try it when your done with a simple bench test.

Sure you can add the 512 MB in slot 2.
PC2700 is backward compatible with PC2100.

No you don't need to do anything. !

That should work. However, BIOS will automatically synchronize the speed to that of the slowest. In your case it will be PC-2100 speed or ddr-266.
