I'd go with an hp computer, they are the best. But the one I would stay away from are the dells. Any other brand is fair game.

With that budget you should be able to get a duo core processor, and Windows Vista Home Premium. Also get 1 or 2 GB of ram (1024-2048) You can do fine with 1GB ram now, but as programs keep getting bigger 2 will be better say next year or the year after. Check it to see if it has your dvd rewriter and should have at least 2 usb plugins--also you will want wireless. I dont go by brand names as I have bought at least 6 pcs over the years, different brands, and they all worked just fine.

Hello,
(ANS) I recommended a DELL Inspiron notebook (laptop) computer for a good friend and its been a really good buy. She really likes it, its very very reliable, comes with a DVD player burner combo, nice bright clear 15 inch screen, built in WiFi adapter & dial-up modem, good battery life or work from the mains.
NOTE: At this point in time I strongly advise you against buying a machine that comes with MS Windows Vista (home or home premium) pre-installed. Why? because having literally used every version of windows since it was invented, I would say that Vista is slow, overly complex, still full of bugs & issues. Vista is a poor show and is on a par with Windows ME.
**I would strongly advise that what ever machine you buy, buy it with Windows XP Pro installed (with SP2). Why? XP is quite possibly the best version of windows ever. Because it has a very good balance between speed & performance and the right number of features (not too many). XP can be tuned to fly & perform well with a little bit to clever tweaking but that cannot be said of Vista.
**TIP,
Most commercial notebook or laptops that come with Vista pre-installed are in my opinion WAY way!! under specification to run Vista with any kind of reasonable performance. Vista has a huge foot print & gobbles ALL the RAM you can throw at it.
**Stick with XP because its now got a VERY respected track record and its very stable.
**Vista still has real problems with device drivers i.e. not being Vista compatible.
**ALOT of software is still NOT vista ready or vista compatible, many companies are still playing catch up with Microsoft even 12months on after Vista was launched here in the UK.

just about all laptops run on 19-20 volts at about 0.5 A. Any enter on the point of this may paintings high quality. Your question is really about the capacity adaptor that includes the computer. In us of a, it is going to remodel 100 and ten volts AC to about 20 volt DC. in case you merely placed a uk plug on the lead, you could overload the transformer and/or it is going to placed out about 40 volts DC. this isn't good for the computer. it will be more advantageous to purchase a commonplace capacity %. with variable output and really a wide determination jack plugs. They cost about £20 in uk and a lot less on eBay. perpetually after, you could take it around the world and capacity up your computer with out concerns.

Regardless of make and specification the operating system you get offered is likely to be Vista so just make sure that you have no less than 2GB of RAM else you will be very disappointed with the speed.

HP's are really good, but your best bet is to go to PC world, and tell the guys there exactly what you want. then, they'll sort out a good computer for you. then go home, google it and see if you can get it cheaper elsewhere!

Buy a new desktop + large LCD screen.
