when looking to buy a new computer... i recommend looking for more RAM and the Processor... 1GB of ram is ok. the higher the better or course. it'll last u a while.
the processor, try to pick the one with the biggest number... usually, the numbers are in the thousands, such as 5500. or 4300...
i think thats the simplest way to help u buy a computer... other then me actually being there with u...

Stick will Dell or Sony; Dell is more reliable. A Windows based pc is more versatile than a Mac.

I would suggest not to get a dell because all of their PCs other then their business class fail relatively fast, Sony Vaio's are extremely expensive for what you get, and if you are going to use it for gaming or editing, mac's usually aren't very compatible.
I would suggest going to HP's website at www.hp.com and checking out their PCs because they are pretty cheap for what you get, yet extremely reliable.

the make is just a name.
