Laptops & Notebooks - February 2007

I have an HP pavillion laptop, and we're trying to get pictures off of this picture chip from an Oympus camera. We have gotten the chip inside of a drive (It's a "digital media drive"), and it seems like it fits well. However, we cannot get them displayed on the computer. How can I get them to show up? I've checked under my computer, and no extra drives pop up.

I'm looking into possibly getting a new laptop and Dell offers comparable systems configured with the following CPU options:

Intel® Core™ Duo T2250
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5200
AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50
AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology MK-36
Mobile AMD Sempron™ 3500+

I've read plenty of stuff on why the Core 2 Duo blows everything else out of the water in terms of performance and I'm not interested in reading biased opinions from Intel/AMD fanboys. All I'm concerned about is power consumption. Which of those choices will allow for the longest battery life in a notebook computer?

I have dowloaded Speedfan, however when choose analyze fan speeds, nothing shows up . Anyone has any idea why?

and it has window vista..but when i use it, it goes so slow..it takes a while to start up the main screen. Is it supposed to be like this w/ window vista? How could I make it faster? the laptop is really good but the only thing is that everything loads up realli slow. How do I boot it in a way to make it goin more faster? Plz help.thnks!

I recently bought a macbook (about a month and a half ago,) and everthing was going well. But, ocationally, i can't wake my mac from sleep (I know frontrow can cause this, but there have been times when it wasn't on) and a day ago, I was viewing pictures or something, and every window I had open slowly got the spinning disc icon. Eventually, I lost mouse control, and the whole thing froze up. Anyway, I used the power button to restart the computer, and when I logged in, all my appearance settings had been reset, from the dock to folder options. Also, applications reacted as if it was the first time they had ever been opened. But all my applications I had installed and my files were intact. I later put my computer to sleep, and when I started it again, it did the same thing. I had "sleeped" it once or twice sice then, and it is working normally.what could have caused this, and how can I fix it?

I was looknig at this deal:

Core 2 Duo (T5500), 1gb ram, 80gb hdd, with a bunch of other extras. Would you say that this is worth $1,700 Australian (which is US$1,320)?

What do you do with an old taptop? How much can you get for it… or do you dispose it since its too old? Pentium I (100 MHz) type of processor. According to manual it is only upgradeable to 40Mb of memory. And you cannot upgrade the processor anymore. So upgrade options are limited.

it is a gateway laptop with wireless interent.

What are the minimum requirements i need to fulfill in order for her to browse and play games on these "childrens" websites. Processer speed, RAM, OS, Video Card, etc... I have a dsl connection and wireless router. And I need a laptop that can have a network card or wireless card added to it. A cd drive would be nice but not exactly necessary. I have never owned a laptop and I have looked at ebay. But, I know nothing about the older laptops and what they are capable of doing today. I am only looking to spend $100 or less. I have a Dell Insprion-B130 With An Intel Celeron Processor, and was thinking about upgrading to Vista from XP. I was just wondering if I wanted to upgrade my Processor to Core Duo, and RAM to 2 Gigs, plus grab a new 100 GB hard drive how much would it cost me. AN estimated guess is all I need. swapped power cord, checked memory,swapped hard drive. nothing worked. then one day i just gave it another try and it started up....ran fine for a month and the same thing happened

i have a mac osx apple powerbook g4 laptop. i have trouble with my screensavers. instead of my screensaver coming on when i go idle my laptop goes into sleep mode. how do i fix this? also, do you know of somewhere i can get free screensavers for a mac?

Some of my DVD's start playing on my laptop and the soundtrack is running in a loop but the movie itself never plays.
Brand new laptop using PowerDVD software.

Ok here are the following problems i need help with on my laptop:

1. Everytime i open microsoft word it freezes and wont let me in.
2. I opend the task manager and it wont let me close it. I tried clicking on the tab at the bottom but nothing comes up.
3. My sequrity thing says i need to update but when i go to the website it says there is an error.
