I am buying a Dell notebook and I wanted to know if it's worth the extra money. For example, a Pentium 3 with 100G hardrive, 265, or a 20G 256, Pentium 4.

Which should I go with? The price difference is well over 150$

Thanks alot for your help!

Depends what you want it for. If you just want to surf, then
a pentium 3 is ok. If you want to do games and download
movies, you'll need pentium 4

Pentium 4.

Pentium 3 is an older technology. The Pentium 4 is just a better processor over the P3. You can also take adavantage of RAM technologies used with a P4.

You should actually look for a notebook that uses an Intel Core Duo or Core 2 Duo processor. You may find a better deal.

We currently buy Thinkpad 2623-DAU notebooks and add 1GB of RAM to that. These only have a 60GB hard disk though.

the P3 (now called Pentium M) is 20% faster then a P4 at the same speed. goto www.tomhardware.com for cpu benchmarks. (the P3vP4 is in the archives-little old now). It's according to what you are trying to do with that computer. letters, internet, and simple things, either will do fine. If trying to play 3d games, neither will do at all.
I would suggest a desktop computer, easier to upgrade.
