Windows Vista has a known issue with needing very high amounts of rom (the memory your computer thinks on), and ram (memory that saves your programs, pictures, etc.); not to mention processer speed to run all thoes bundled packages. (windows vista is the cadillac of windows ~every bell, beep, and whisle) which leave more buggs to be worked out, more backdoors, and virus options for attack... all in all im waiting until windows manages to make it a more stable operating system and im not to crazy about all the extra junk youll never use. So what if your windows can open 30 internet pages at one time...you only maby open 2-6 at any given time anyways. All this just adds to lag on the system and frustration waiting for the system to do the one simple task you actully need done...i may not be the best informed but i know from experiance... microsoft is more geared towards putting out the newest coolest tech around; and deals with bugs afterwords. You are now their ginney-pig. ok back to the point...1.7 g processer is just barly making the cut for what vista needs to run efficiently and the rom on a store bought factory mass produced computer (laptops especially) very rarley have the rom upgraded to run at full potential. my suggestion is take about $50-$200 bucks to the store and tell them to install the most rom, matched set, that the computer can handle. It will improve your new laptop so much it will seem like a whole new toy. yes the new rom memory is pretty expensive and having a matched set ensures that your getting the most bang for the buck. more info about min. requirments can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/systemrequirements.mspx good luck and get a anti-virus considering your required to have internet access to update and register ....

The quickest way to make this laptop go faster is to wipe Vista and load Windows XP....Windows Vista Takes a long time with my computer too....and i have 1gb Ram and a 2ghz Athlon processor (of course i have many other little niceties too)

Get more RAM. 446 is hardly enough for Vista.

upgrage your Ram from 512 to 1GB. use disk cleanup to clean unneccessary files. after that run defragment tool to defrag your laptop. Remove unneccessary files which are being uploaded during startup. probably this will speed up your laptop.
