Help! Memory chip not cooperating with my computer!?

I have an HP pavillion laptop, and we're trying to get pictures off of this picture chip from an Oympus camera. We have gotten the chip inside of a drive (It's a "digital media drive"), and it seems like it fits well. However, we cannot get them displayed on the computer. How can I get them to show up? I've checked under my computer, and no extra drives pop up.

You aren't giving enough detail for this question to be easily answered.

All I can offer right now is that the flash memory you're putting into the computer is not of the same format as the drive. It may physically FIT in the drive, but it might not be readable by it.
