That is plenty if RAM. I currently run with 768 MB RAM and can play most games out there.
Just an FYI tough, RAM is not related to how many songs/games/files you have on your computer. It is only used by software and files that are currently open. It is more related to how many programs yo can run simultaneously.
For instance if you run a game or open a document then the game and your word processor use some RAM. However the music file you are not listening to does not use any RAM (only hard drive space).

Yes. Having a RAM of 1982 MB is really good. The size of your RAM is more than enough to accept Microsoft (r) Windows (r) Vista (tm). Having a large RAM Memory for your computer is beneficial for its speed especially when you have a lot of programs.

Gaming laptops are basically plenty greater high priced than gaming computers. once you're a severe gamer you would be greater efficient off spending seven-hundred on a a million/2 respectable gaming laptop. Whichever computing device you purchase it's going to be ineffective interior a quick volume of time. Especialyl in case you go with for one on a greater modest funds. btw RAM makes little difference in gaming the section in which you would be able to desire to spend the money is interior the very maximum suitable photos card, then the main suitable cpu (no longer continually quad, except your sport helps quad center decide for a intense clocked twin center) then after those the confusing rigidity is greater considerable than RAM, determine you get a 7200rpm or SSD, then you definately choose 2 or 3gb of RAM. be sure its low latency. thats it. btw the individuals saying you would be able to desire to spend hundreds on a gaming computing device are incorrect. you need to purchase something for 6 hundred which will play video games easily, you purely would desire to drop the settings. Play at a decrease decision and turn in intensity effects off and it would be effective. the only reason I don;t recommend you do this's via fact the money invested in any computing device surprisingly a funds one is money down the drain. they're purely worhtwhile (gaming laptops) once you're a genuine hardcore gamer and characteristic money to burn.

well, 2GB ram should be plenty. but with that exact amount being reported, it would seem some is being used for the graphics. (2GB=2024MB, 2024-1982=42) i know of no 42 MB graphics card.
are your sure that is not the total amount of available ram INCLUDING virtual ram? virtual ram is when your computer uses a bit of the hard drive as ram.
just saying you should check it out, the number is a bit wierd

Roughly 2.0GB, although I am interested in what chip combination yields that. Is that the total in Windows Task Manager? That total counts your HDD Swapfile as well as your physical memory.
The physical memory alone is listed in Control Panel > System. That will tell if Aero will fly on your system, although a swapfile managed by windows never is larger than double your physical memory... I think you have around a GB if not close to it.
