Hi, I was just wondering if the Core 2 Duo (T5500) is a good laptop processor... Is it the best?

I was looknig at this deal:

Core 2 Duo (T5500), 1gb ram, 80gb hdd, with a bunch of other extras. Would you say that this is worth $1,700 Australian (which is US$1,320)?

Thanks

According to the media, Core 2 Duo is one of best processors in the world but I disagree because I have compared many different processors and found out some processors are much better than core duo and most prominent Intel processors have demonstrated much better performance than core duo. But this is my opinion based on observations that may vary by many factors.

Depending on what you use it for I would think it was an overkill. Are you a gamer? Then you might want that processor, but if you check email and write papers then you can save money because you will never need a processor that powerful.

It's a very nice chip -
Everything is price - if you can get 2 gigs of ram, do it.
Get the best video card you can afford and....
get the better laptop monitor..... makes a huge difference
