I bought a new laptop and I want to move my Microsoft Office 2003 pro to the new laptop. I can not find the discs. My last install was a $190 update to Office including Business Contact Manager.

You can try to find the product key:
Office: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011508341033.aspx

Probably won't fly. Windows installer makes you type the unique 25-character code that's printed on the case. Later, the Product Activation programs looks at various serial numbers inside your PC - the processor, network card, and disk drives, etc. -- mixes them together, and produces a second 25-character code that identifies your PC. Those 50 characters, taken together, are called the installation ID.

When you activate Windows XP, you give Microsoft the 50 character installation ID.

If you have made a minor change to your PC, such as a new hard drive, it might work. If Microsoft thinks you have a new or second PC, it may not work properly or at all.

Replace Lost Office Product Keys

To obtain a new product key for your Office program in the United States, call 1-800-936-5700 and speak to a Microsoft customer service representative. Outside of the United States, call the number that appears in the activation wizard.
When you call Microsoft for a new Office product key, have the following items available for the customer service representative:
 The product CD-ROM
 The computer on which you want to install Office
 The readable parts of your original product key (if available)
The ProductID information in the registry

You cannot move it, only install it on a new computer and to do that you need the install discs. The only other way is to copy an exact image of your hard drive to the new laptop, but doing that also copies every other programs and operating system, so if you have vista on the new computer and the Office 2003 is installed in an XP computer, doing this "copy" would also means loosing vista on ur new computer. The way to do this is by using softwares, sorry not sure of the names of the softwares. just do a simple search in the net and u should be able to find it.

in the previous i'd spend $5 on a MS product, i'd inspect OpenOffice. we are talking homework and pc interior of an similar breath. till you assume doing homework as a attitude to learn on laptops, i'd evaluate OpenOffice.

Sorry, but there is no other option but buying the disks again. You could download it illegally but that's not recommended

you can't unless you borrow someone else's disks. however, if you still have your product key, you can get replacement disks from MS.
