ok I am a bit slow when it comes to computers some what but I need someone to tell me step by step how to restore my Gateway laptop the problem is I have spywear on it and I have already purchased anti-virus and spywear softwear but it is saying that I need to get rid of the Norton that is already on the computer well I thought I got rid of it but something is locked in or something where there is no icons or anything that says Norton but it is still there and stopping the new softwear from working right and I don't know where my restore cd is but it gives me the option to burn a new one I'm also not sure how to do this either please help I have only a few strands on hair let on my head thank you in advance

ok so i just got a new laptop and i dont think it is a pc tablet. but my pc has onenote on it so can i by a pen or somthing to make it like a pc tablet

I have a gateway solo 1450 that wont power on... Heres what I did - it was working before on battery power and when plugged in with cord then i could not find the power cord so i got a 12V that of course was not enough the light would turn on then off when i hit the power on button so i figured i would go higher I found one that was 21 Volts and plugged it in (ya dumb I know) nothing happened no pop, fiz, spark no sound at all not even the light turned on. The laptop says it needs 19 Volts well i found the 19Volt cord today and when i plugged it in the laptop lights would not come on and it would not power up could only 2 volts more/over the 19V fry something inside?? If so what I also have a gateway solo 1350 that has a broken screen so is it possible to use any parts on this laptop or is the MoBo fried? I know its not the cord because i plug it into the 1350 model and it works fine light turns on as soon as i plug it in. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been using the same battery pack for the last 2 years.And the battery or ac adapter for the laptop ,I mean the wire,melted.And ever since I got it repaired,it only charges for less than 30 minutes.Whereas before it charges upto 4 hours.I wanna know does this have to do anything with repairing or the battery pack needs to be changed?

My laptop crashed (battery died during system restore to a previous date) and all I get is the "blue screen of death" now. The missing or corrupt file is the comctl32.dll. I have a good copy of it on a flash drive but how do I transfer/copy it into the laptop? FYI - I can't get online or to any files period. I can get to DOS but that's it. Also, it's a Dell Inspiron. Thanks for your help!!

I have a DSL connected desktop and my laptop has a wireless card. It was working but my motherboard died shortly after the hard drive crashed and I don't want to have to pay Best Buy another $50 to get the wireless connection to work on the laptop again. It can't be that difficult - I thought XP would figure this out automatically. What are the steps I should take? I can't find any wireless connection settings to configure. Since my computer was wiped out - do I need to download some drivers for the card or additional software from somewhere? The instructions given in the Help Center are useless because I don't have the selections they are telling me to click on. Help!

I may go on my laptop 5 or 6 times during the day and night. I'm wondering if it is better to leave it on all day and evening, or put it on standby everytime I am off it for an hour or two. What is easiest on the computer

My tab key and my "Q" keys came off of my 17" PowerBook. Can you buy replacement keys from Apple and get them to install it? I found the support file for installing them yourself, but the little tabs on the scissor mechanism broke :(.

I thought I had a virus and walked away from the laptop for three days. Came back, booted up, no problems, no virus upon updating and scanning. When it has acted up, it is usually--if not always--on startup. What gives? Toshiba Satellite A45-S150. By the way, I thought it was going to happen just now as the fan started to race, but it just stopped and everything's OK...

Holla amigos,
I have lost the original recovery disk of my laptop which had windows xp. Now i am badly in need of formatting my hard drive and reinstalling windows again. Do u think i'll be able to get another recovery disk from the manufacturer? if so, any idea how much it will cost?
and btw its a fujitsu-siemens one.

It is for a Compaq Presario c304NR model laptop which is sold at BestBuy but they do not sell it and neither does Compaq. Please do not answer with places that just sell batteries. I need this specific one. And I am amazed that Compaq does not sell it.
