Ebay. Look for a good used IBM Thinkpad, or some other business-grade computer.
STAY AWAY from the new cheap ones unless you like getting a new computer every 18 months.
My IBM is 4 years old. It's a p1800, and it would sell for about $450 on eBay now (it has MS Office on it). It is rock-solid.
