I may go on my laptop 5 or 6 times during the day and night. I'm wondering if it is better to leave it on all day and evening, or put it on standby everytime I am off it for an hour or two. What is easiest on the computer

You can use hibernate too. Its turn off the computer, but it turn off really quick. In hibernate mode all your setting and programs appear as if you never turn off the computer.

turn it on and leave it on if your going turn off the monitor dont use standby or hibernate

It is faster to put it on standby. It is best to plug it in...and leave it on though.
