Laptops & Notebooks - December 2006

I bought my laptop approx 6mnths ago and the past two weeks its bcome extremely slow, sometimes i wait for 10 minutes before it opens up a program. When i play games and on the net everythings in slow motion most the time.
Why is it doing this and what can i do to speed it up again?

I have HP DV6114TX notebook, i have received a remote control with it a kind of L Shape, it was working few days back but now its not working, i have changed the battery and checked it, but no success. Please tell me if there is some software for it which i have uninstalled or disabled it by mistake.

Okay... some of the keys for letters are typing numbers instead. It's not the number lock or the caps lock or anything. Iv'e tried so many things and I don't want to have to return the pc. Please write me some suggestions.

The specs say it has a max memory of 1GB (2x512MB PC2700 SODIMM). I am wondering if anyone knows for certain whether this laptop can take 1GB PC5300 SODIMM modules, and/or address 2GB of RAM. Is a BIOS upgrade required or anything like that? I'm looking for people with real-world experiences with this laptop model. Thank you!

everytime im playing the sims 2 my laptop is turning off !!!
i buy the sims 2 on the pizza! and like i put it on and since it started 2 turn off !! i thought that the disk might have something that the laptop is turning off! but ma cousin loaded on his laptop and it didnt turn off !!! i dont get it ???? when my dad use the laptop it not turning off !!! why is my laptop turning of when i play the sims 2?

I can load the game and see the intro movie. After that I hear the sounds but my screen is black. I can't even figure out how to exit the game without rebooting the computer. I suspect I need a VESA driver, but I have no idea which one or how to get it.

I was just using my Dell laptop and had it plugged into the wall when suddenly it went dim and the battery usage indicator came on. I checked to make sure the outlet was working, and that everything was connected and plugged in correctly and it was. Now it is only running off of the battery and I do not understand why it will not run of the plug in and charge my battery! Any idea, suggestions? Help!

but while I was using it before, I think I may have turned it on stand-by. I am not sure what I did but when I went to turn it back on, the only thing that happens is the small little light shaped like a lightning bolt at the bottom (assuming this is the battery light but not sure) comes on. This isn't my laptop so I am not sure what to do with it. Anyone have any ideas?

With flash drives becoming bigger and bigger. Crashing hard disk are the Nr. 1 threat to a computer as far as I am concerned.

At least in a Notebook this would make sense, as one really doesn't want to have moving parts in that, no?
