The Intel 945GM chipset is what's called an onboard video card with shared video memory. This means it'll use the laptop's resources (the memory mostly) to render graphics. For example, if you have 512 MB of RAM on the laptop, and the 945 uses up to 128 MB shared, under a heavy gaming load it'll take up 128 of that 512 leaving you with only 384 for windows, games, and all the other stuff.

The Intel 945GM does support most of the features of new, middle-to-upper end cards but is very slow. Anything less than 2 years old will have trouble running at high, full, and in some cases even medium detail. It's just there to get graphics onto the screen, no matter how slow they get there.

It is not good for new games. Try to find out of the chipset on your laptop is modular; i.e. if you can replace it with something better. If you can, find an NVidia GeForce Go 7300 or similar.

If you want to game then go with an AMD they are designed to play games. I can say that the 939 chip set is good for gaming I would have to make the assumption that the 945 is too sense it came after the 939. Check out www.tigerdircet.com they can give you an exact answer to your question.

No, not really. Integrated graphics is never good for gaming, you need a dedicated graphics card.
