The specs say it has a max memory of 1GB (2x512MB PC2700 SODIMM). I am wondering if anyone knows for certain whether this laptop can take 1GB PC5300 SODIMM modules, and/or address 2GB of RAM. Is a BIOS upgrade required or anything like that? I'm looking for people with real-world experiences with this laptop model. Thank you!

I know what HP/Compaq say about this, yet often these specs are made and then never touched again, when in fact a newer, larger one will work. I was just hoping someone might have tried it with this particular model to confirm.

I know of no available BIOS upgrade that allows for the use of 2 1GB PC5300 SODIMM Modules. When I upgraded my RAM I was told that each slot would support no more than a 512MB PC2700 module; so that's what I got.

could be properly matched, yeah. What you truly want is two modules that are comparable, and you pick the comparable length. greater effective than 2 is transforming into to be nonsensical, simply by fact a 32-bit OS can optimal take care of four GB - and XP and Vista do no longer take care of greater effective than (3 GB - memory on snap shots card) anyhow, so 2 GB could be positive.

No.
According to HP :
Memory Max = 1024mb

The latest BIOS ( 09/2006) does not increase the addressable memory (see first link) :

http://www.crucial.com has a tool on the homepage that can help you with that. While they don't have the best prices, they do have the best of service and quality of RAM.
