You should consider going to the website of the manufacturer of your laptop and looking for the online manual of your laptop model. Laptops normally don't have flip switches to turn them on. When you open your laptop there should be a very obvious button.

If you've pushed every button on your laptop and it's not turning on you might want to take it to a computer shop like Best Buy to make sure that your battery and power supply works.

On a side note, it's rather puzzling that you've had the laptop for 2 years and have never once used the power button.

Depends on the model. Mine has a button at the top with a circle on it. I have a Dell. Just hit every botton if all else fails...you will have to find one that works.

what laptop is it? most have the circle button above your keyboard. look for it or just press random buttons =) and sometimes you need to hold down the button for older laptops.
