my notebook works on electricity but I still keep the battery attached to it. Is that a problem? When it runs on electricity, do I have to remove the battery? Does the battery get damaged in any way? Please help! Thankyou.

I have an advent 7038 laptop currently running with 512mb of PC2700 200 pin so-dimm memory ( 2 x 256). Today I bought one 512mb PC2700 200 pin so-dimm memory module and replaced one of the banks on my laptop with this new module. However, when I turn the laptop on it beeps 4 times and doesnt do anything else.

Ive seen from other sites that this means that the first 62bits of operational memory are corrupted or the timer is not opperational however it works perfectly when I put the old 256mb module back in. Any ideas?

I have a gateway notebook laptop, with the pen and the screen that rotates. My mouse pad has worked fine since i have had it, which has been about 3 months. Then this morning it all of a sudden quit working. I have no idea what the problem is. The pointer works when I hook a mouse into the outlet, but my mousepad on the computer isnt working. What could the problem be? I have already checked it out in control panel, but it doesnt have anything to fix it. Please give me a solution to this problem.

I have heard many people saying how corrupt and flawed the new Apple Macbooks are. Are these people full of it, or are the new Macbooks really as flawed as they say.

My 4 year old toshiba satellite is now making noises when I tilt it or put any pressure (resting hands) over the area of the hard drive. It sounds like the hard drive is wobbling or jamming. If I keep tilting it the computer goes to the blue error screen and the computer restarts. Is my hard drive about to die me? Think there is somekind of fix for it?

Okay, so I have an old laptop, and it's not wi-fi ready, I have to buy one of those cards so it will read a wireless router, but I am having a total brain fart and can't think of what it's called. It's that card thing that you stick in the side of the laptop. HELP!

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop that is not asking for a HDD password. I have no idea what it is... the only password that I WOULD have set it up as, doesn't work. Now, I can't get into my laptop. Can someone help? Any suggestions on how to get past the HDD password prompt? It doesn't have a floppy disk drive, or I heard it would be easier to fix. Help!

I was planning on getting an Inspiron E1505 from the Dell website and I didn't even see the 6400 until I recently stumbled upon it. What's the difference and is one better than the other?
