If its one of the latest ( bought in last 6 months ) forget about the hardware requierments, it has everything that you need. Just take an ISP connection,
If via phone line - Configure DUN (Dial Up Networking)and you are done.
If via DSL - configure your NIC / DSL modem, put a few IPs (ask your ISP they'll give these & you are done.

I used to get on the Internet via a 386 based Dell laptop. Just about anything will work for Web browsing.

If you have USB port, then the only requirement is USB WIFI. Then when you have it, install accompanied cd then go to any hotspots area, plug USB WIFI and when something pop-up on your tray click to connect.
