Do you hate dell computures?

My 14 year old son wants to build a computer. He is very good with computers, and understands how they work. He has researched everything and says he will use his own money to buy the parts, totaled up at around $670. I dont want him to buy it and end up not being able to put it together. I myself have also read the manuals on how to build computers and they seemed to be understandable. Should I let him do it?

ok, idk what exactly it does, but it wont start up. my friend was tellin me something about an xp boot disc. what i thought he was saying was, this or, this along with something else will delete everything off your computer, even viruses, and you would reboot windows xp. so, if she bought another disc would it possibly fix her computer? if so, please send me a link to show me exactly what shes buying, and where she could get it (including ebay)

also she was wondering if she bought a new hard drive, would that fix it?

thanks

According to CircuitCity.com you need a 400 MHz Pentium® II or equivalent, or a 400 MHz G3 processor or better My question is will I be able to play with my computer, I have a Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.20GHz Version: x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 Speed: 2199 MHz

Please give yes or no answers and I would really like to hear from people with this procesor, please don't give your opinions or tell me that you think it will work, only respond if you are sure.

I had XP 32-bit, I added 2GB of RAM to my existing 2GB. (I now have 4 identical Corsair 800MHZ 1GB sticks at 5-5-5-12)
However when I viewed system info it only reads 3.25GB RAM.
Some people said 32-bit XP only supports 3.25 and I need 64-bit. Luckily I have a copy of 64-bit. (A legitimate OEM copy)
So i did a full format and installed XP 64-bit Pro. However system info still only reads 3.25GB RAM.
The video card is a Geforce 7950GX2 which has 1GB of its own memory on the GPU. The MOBO is a M2N32-Sli Deluxe and I am using a AMD 64FX-62 Windsor CPU. The PC itself is running fine.
Why is only 3.25GB of the RAM being recognised?

Hi All!

I was just wondering about my CPU voltage as well as other system voltages.

I Have a 500 watt power supply.

+3.3V-14A-----\
------------------|210W
+5V---25A-----/

+12V 13A ----- 210W
-12V 0.8A -----12W
-5V 0.5A ------5.0W
500 Watt Maximal combined output.
My CPU is a 1Ghz (1000Mhz) intel Celeron, Code name: Tualatin Technology 0.13um
I have it overclocked to 1.28Ghz (1280Mhz) Which it handles ok, no freezes etc.
The current FSB is 128Mhz, as you can see the multplier is 10x.
When i open up CPUZ and look at the CPU Core voltage it is 1.472Volts, but it is always changing, to 1.56V 1.24V even 1.88V, But only quickly. Is this OK?? even when it is not overclocked it still changes but not as much. When overclocked the Temp under load is 36 Degress C. Idle at 29

Also the ram is 512MB SDRAM 133MHz.

Also I have a NIVIDIA Geforce 6200 A-LE 256MB DDR2 GRAM. AGP 4x. 35 dgress C idle
45 under load.

The 3.3 voltage is running at 3.28V
And the 12V at12.16V

Thnx.

I'm building a computer pretty quickly here and I need to figure out what I'm doing for a video card.

I would straight off go with an 8800GT, but their price is being inflated and their availability limited by demand, so I'm weighing my options.

I need a strong enough card to be able to competently display games, aswell as edit video in HD on a 22" Widescreen with a native resolution of 1650x1080.

Canadian Pricing:
8800GT - $299.99 - however shipping is up in the air
8800GTX - On sale for $470 Canadian
3870 - $269.99
I would prefer not to spend money I don't have to.

Do you think the 8800GT or the 3870 would do me alright? I'm not looking to play Crysis on absolute max settings, but I do want to be able to play games on mid-high settings (preferably) native resolution.

Note: The card will be paired with an Intel Core 2 q6700 Quad core and 3 to 4GB of RAM. SLI and Crossfire are not an option at the moment. Processor being used is set in stone (purchase program from intel).

My computer is only 11 months old, and I'm getting a"Your computer is low on virtual memory. windows is increasing the size, during this time many memory applications may be denied" or something along those lines. WHY? It's only 11 months old! I never run two programs at once, and aside from my pictures and audio files, there is nothing really stored on my computer. Yahoo messenger, Chuzzle and Kodak Easyshare...thats it. Thats all that's on my computer. What can I do to stop this message? This is the same message I was getting on my last computer, right before it crashed so I'm kind of worried here. I checked and my virtual memory is set to 669.

when i play battlefield 2 in medium and high settings, it looks great, occasionally lags, but would all of a sudden freeze. I can run it on low settings really well though. I have friends that have the same video card that can run the same game with high settings with ease. What is wrong with mine?

As in question, is the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE with TurboCache with128MB (dedicated); up to 623MB (allocated by Windows Vista) good for gaming? I'm talking about big games like World of Warcraft, Halo, MapleStory, Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament, etc..... Big Multiplayer games. So is the graphics card any good for it?

I just got a gateway gt5628, here are the system specs http://www.gateway.com/retail/gt5628.php
When i try to play it nothing happens. It won't even go to the loading screen. I went to www.systemrequirementslab.com and it says i pass the recommended requirements but on the rb6 requirement tool it doesn't detect the CPU frequency (GHz) so i don't pass the minimum requirements.

I have a computer that ramdomly locks up and blue screens, and sometimes randomly restarts. The weird thing is that after a few restarts from the crashes, the computer work normally again.

It could possibly be a problem with my ram because it fails Windows Memory Diagnostic on the MATS test with the cache off, but it passes memtest86+.

That's what I thought at first, but when I checked my computer voltages, the 12V line is at 10.45V, and the 5V line is at 4.28V.

My PSU is an Enermax 270W, and I don't thinks it's enough to power my system:
Intel Pentium D 805
PC CHIPS P13G+ mobo
512MB RAM
2 Hard Drives:250GB,40GB
1DVD Burner

Is 270W enough for this system? If not, what is the MINIMUM amount of watts needed?

If you have any questions, please ask me. I am planning to buy a new power supply and/or a new mobo with a core 2 quad.

My CPU usage shows 100% even without any applications opened. It takes several minutes to exit out of a screen saver.
Under processes theres a process "agent.exe" that shows constant usage of CPU between 38 & 60 percent and "ISUSPM.exe" shows 30 to high 40s.
I've run spybot, virus scan & have defragged which is about the extent of my IT abilities.
Any ideas?

Bought an intel motherboard D910GLDW, this the 6 th computer i've built, i put the MOBO in, and went ta boot it up, and got the black screen, i went over the instructions very carefully, to make sure I put it in the right way, i took the battery out, and i tried switching the jumper, but neither one worked. The board has an intel graphics media accelerator 900, and i'm thinking, it has to do with the video htich up, because right off the bat, i didn't get anything, any help would be a ppreciated. Oh I have 2 computers, this one works, I just up graded it, from a Shuttle to a Biostar MOBO, had know problems, the other one, everything is new, starting from scratch, you would think it would be easier.

So on my computer when I hit the shift key and the number "4," up pops a dollar symbol like this: $. If I were to purchase a computer in the UK, would it have a "pound" symbol on the keyboard above the 4?

And what about the euro? (Pardon my ignorance, but I don't even know if it has a symbol.)

Moreover, is there any way I can make the pound symbol with my computer?
