It could be one of three things, your power supply may not be steady enough (cheap, old or defective), your RAM doesn't match, has dirty contacts or need tested and repaired, your files may be slightly defective(the same remedy as the RAM testing/repair.
To test/repair your files, click My Computer-right click Local Disk C-click Properties-click tools.
Do all the testing and check both options, to check and automatically repair files.
When you have finished repairing, go to the site below for free instructions on how to set your RAM for optimum use, (a must for gamers)

Sounds like you may be infected with the Sasser virus.Does it leave you any messages before it shuts down. My advice is to unplug it for a few hours, Then to start it up again in safe mode by hitting the f8 key continually before the Microsoft Windows logo comes on. Then run your virus software to detect and delete the virus. If this doesn't help, bring it to a computer expert for repairs.

Definitely not good... could be your hard drive or CPU going, or (as others mentioned) a virus or cooling fan going... or a whole host of other things. NOT something to play with. Best thing to do is turn it off immediately and take it to a trained computer repair person, before it gets REALLY bad and fries everything you've got on the system.

I've heard of computers shutting down by themselves but never turning themselves ON. Are you THAT hot ?
For the computer automatically shutting down, it's probably because of a virus. Run a full AV system scan. you cans also try the www.panda.com online scan for a second opinion.

For the computer turnning itself ON, check your power plug/socket and see if it is properly inserted. Try with another plug/socket.
If it still does turns on by itself, get dressed and take your computer to a priest for an exorcism.
IT"S POSSESSED !!! lol...
